2014 TSGS Book Awards

Submit your book family history or genealogical reference book for consideration for the TSGS 2014 Book Awards.
2014 TSGS Book Awards

It’s time to get excited and celebrate – the book. Yes, people are still writing and publishing those things made out of paper. Remember how a new book smells? TSGS has a long history in recognizing not only the writing efforts of its members but, specifically, it rewards the efforts of members and societies who have published a family history or genealogical reference book (index, history, listing, etc.).

Public recognition is important. It provides the encouragement needed when you feel that no one really cares about your particular research project. Recognition makes all those trips to the courthouse, archive or library worthwhile. What you document through abstracting, compiling, recording, indexing, interpreting and researching provides vital information to not only your fellow family historians but those historians of future generations.

TSGS presents an overall grand prize of $400 and claim to bragging rights in the TSGS Book Awards regardless of the category you have entered your book into – Non-professional (Category I), professional (Category II) or partner society (Category VII). Awards in each subgroup (family history or reference) will be $200 for first place; $100 for second place; and $50 for third place. Visit our Writing Awards webpage for all the details. Note: In general, you must be a member of the Texas State Genealogical Society and in the past year (2013-2014) published a family history or reference. The deadline for submission is September 15.
