As a benefit to TSGS members, TSGS is focusing efforts in 2014 co-hosting the FGS national 2014 conference “Gone to Texas” in San Antonio, August 27-30th. This fabulous opportunity for genealogical education, entertainment, and networking takes the place of the TSGS annual conference usually held the first week of November.
Texas State Genealogical Society will continue to recognize excellence in the genealogical community through our very popular awards program featuring awards, honors, and a scholarship. Rather than announce recipients at an annual conference awards banquet and in order to recognize winners among their family and friends, members of the TSGS Board will present awards and honors at locations that are local to the award recipients. For example, the winners of the Society Quarterly competition may be presented at a meeting of that local society. Likewise, winners of book awards will asked what local event they would like their award presented.
Further, one issue of STIRPES in 2014 will contain a bonus section honoring our award recipients, listing all of the entries and awards. Plus, selected content will be featured in the issue.
We invite you to take a look at the awards categories and criteria listed on our Awards and Grants webpage and submit your work. All entries are due September 15, 2014.
