Scott Fitzgerald named as the 2015 TxSGS Fellow at our 2015 Family History Conference banquet.

The Texas State Genealogical Society awarded Scott Fitzgerald with the status of Fellow at our 2015 Family History Conference, which was held October 30th through November 1st in Austin.

Scott is known state-wide for his genealogical contributions.

TxSGS Service

Scott has served on the TxSGS Board of Directors for 13 years in several capacities, including: District Representative, Vice-President, President, and Treasurer for the last 8 years.

He has also edited and published the Speaker’s Bureau; gathered, written, and edited material for Stirpes; and authored two TxSGS Award winning reference books.

The Extended Genealogical Community

Scott has served as an officer for Van Zandt County Genealogical Society, East Texas Genealogical Society, Lone Star Chapter of Association of Professional Genealogists, Smith County Historical Commission, and the City of Tyler Historical Preservation Board, in addition to being involved with USGenWeb and TXGenWeb as coordinator for five counties.

He also assisted with six East Texas Genealogical Society publications

His influence has been felt in all aspects of genealogy in Texas, from societies on the local and state level to publication of records in both book and online formats, to managing genealogy websites. Scott’s generosity with his time and expertise in all these areas has greatly enriched Texas genealogy.
