The past few months have been a busy time for TxSGS as we continue to build momentum around our core objectives of:
- improving records preservation and access,
- developing partnerships and increase collaboration among genealogical and historical organizations,
- and expanding TxSGS’s educational offerings.
While future updates will detail taking a more proactive approach to records access, outline new collaborations, and provide ongoing announcements regarding our annual conference in October, this month’s post focuses on the status of TxSGS’s publication, Stirpes.
As some of you may be aware, Stirpes has been on a longer-than-anticipated hiatus due to a variety of reasons. This is a situation that we have worked hard to remedy and now have a plan going forward. As TxSGS continues its search for a managing periodical editor, Stirpes will be produced by an editorial committee. Two double-issues will be published this year. The first, expected mid-year, will consist of pending and new content. The second, expected near the end of the year, will be a Stirpes retrospective. That issue will consist of curated content from the past 55 years along with updates to select articles. I am looking forward to new issues of Stirpes and I am certain many of you are as well.
Again, I would like to thank each of you for your past and continued support of TxSGS and the good work we do for personal and family historians of Texas.

Great! Since I am a new member this sounds fantastic. I really hope you will strongly consider inviting Connie Grey back to the state meeting in Oct. She has been such s great help in our search for our adopted children. She has spent numerous hours searching and helping us learn to search on our own. We must support Connie & her colleagues to get the States next session to vote to release records to our children,who are 51 & 54 years old. They only want to get background health info. Keep up the good work! Dr. & Mrs Alan Siebenthall You may use our names in correspondence with others, however we need to approve the info before releasing.
The call for presentations is open through 15 May. Feel free to encourage your favorite speakers to submit one or more topics before the deadline!
When will the Winter issue of TSGS “Stirpes” be coming to us?
I didn’t attend the 2016 Conference and do not know if I need to renew my membership. Please advise.
