David Clary arrived in Texas in January 1835. He received a 1st class headright grant of 1 League and 1 Labor of land, later located in Navarro County, Texas. In March and April 1836 he provided supplies to the Army of the Republic of Texas. In 1839 he purchased 640 acres of land in Montgomery County, Texas from Tandy Walker. In 1846, when Grimes County was created, his land lay in that County. On 4 Aug 1849 David Clary gave three acres out of the Tandy Walker tract to trustees for a Methodist Church. He died on 21 Nov 1849, presumably in Grimes County, Texas. His place of burial is unknown.
