Gage - Calvin Gage - Brief bio



Calvin Gage left Arkansas and moved to Texas in the 1840s. He helped to settle Jack County. Calvin was a US Indian War Veteran. He was the county judge of Jack County at the time of his death. Calvin was killed by being thrown from a horse. He was the first person buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro, Jack County, Texas. A year after his death his family was involved in the Landman-Gage Nocona Indian massacre that occurred in Jack County, Texas on 26 Nov 1860.
