Join us for DNA: where genealogy and genetics come together. This free event is March 19\, 2016 from 8:30am to 5pm at West Waco Library & Genealogy Center. \nThe library event\, hosted in cooperation with the Central Texas Genealogical Society\, features genealogists to guide you through the process of getting\, interpreting and using your DNA results to achieve your research goals. The multi-session workshop will address topics including what tests to do\, what those tests tell you\, some of the tools to get your tests and results and how to apply the results to go farther in your genealogy research. \nDNA research is popular\, so many people find themselves wondering how to get that information and what to do with it. The experts in this workshop can guide both beginning and experienced genealogists through the process. “The branches and leaves on your tree are determined by the roots: Y\, X (mtDNA) and Autosomal Chromosomes.  DNA testing can determine who you are and who you are not\, thus saving many years of barking up the wrong tree and digging the wrong roots.” says Sue Coffelt\, chair of the Central Texas Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group. \nSpace for the event is limited\, so pre-registration for the event is required. Register using the online calendar at wacolibrary.org or by calling any of the library branches. The West Waco Library & Genealogy Center is located at 5301 Bosque Blvd. in Waco. \nThe Waco-McLennan County Library serves Waco and its surrounding areas and is committed to furthering the community’s access to information and pursuit of knowledge. For further information about this or any other library program visit www.wacolibrary.org or call 254-750-5941. \nAdditional Registration Instructions\nFrom Bill Buckner\, the TxSGS Awards Chair and District 12 Representative\, and Genealogy Center Manager for the West Waco Library & Genealogy Center. \nRegistration is required for this free event. \nTo register go to www.wacolibrary.org on the Library calendar. Go to the month of March\, on the 19th on the Register button at the bottom. Fill in form and submit. If someone does not have email have them call the Genealogy Center 254-750-5945. \nOnce a person is registered they will receive a confirmation. We get a copy on our end. \nOn March 10 – I will send out a reminder to all that have registered. At that time I will ask those who registered to reaffirm their reservation (within 3 days) by replying back to our reminder email. I expect we may have a waiting list for the 80 seats available. That is the reason we are asking those who registered to confirm their registration closer to the event. \nAdditional questions? Call the Genealogy Center 254-750-5945.
