DESCRIPTION:The Genealogical Society of Kendall County invites you to attend the Twelfth Annual Hill Country Family History Seminar\, on Saturday\, April 30\, 2016\, in Boerne\, Texas. \nAbout the Speaker\nDr. Michael Lacopo was born and raised in northern Indiana. He started doing genealogical research as a hobby in 1980 to verify family stories he had always heard. In 1991 Michael completed his doctorate in veterinary medicine. In 2013\, he retired from his medical career to pursue genealogical research as a full-time profession. Michael has contributed to numerous periodicals and is a popular and respected speaker both nationally and internationally. His interests and strengths include Mennonite and European research. DESCRIPTION:Join the University of North Texas Libraries and Texas Archive of the Moving Image for the opportunity to turn your family history into community history! \nIn our National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)-funded project\, the Spotlight on North Texas\, we will be digitizing materials related to Denton County’s motion picture history including your home movies\, local and regional films\, photographs\, advertisements\, etc. A selection of this content will be made available on the Portal to Texas History and Texas Archive of the Moving Image’s online archive for future generations to appreciate and study. \nTo qualify for free digitization\, films and videotapes must: \n\nBe one of the following formats: Film (Super 8\, 8mm\, and 16mm films) or Video (VHS\, VHS-C\, SVHS\, Beta SP\, ¾” U-matic\, Hi-8\,\n8mm\, MiniDV)\nBe filmed in Texas\, filmed by a Texan\, or featured Texas or Texans.\nBe in the public domain OR submitted by the copyright holder\, who grants permissions for the items to be shared by TAMI and UNT.\nTotal no more than 20 reels of film and no more than 5 videotapes per household.\n\nTo qualify for free digitization\, documents must: \n\nDocument the motion picture history of Denton County.\nTotal no more than 25 items per household.\nBe in the public domain OR submitted by the copyright holder\, who grants permissions for the items to be shared by TAMI and UNT.\n\nOn the day of the event\, UNT Digital Projects staff will digitize your documents\, return the originals\, and provide a free digital copy on a flash-drive. The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) and UNT will inventory your films and videotapes\, provide minor cleaning and repairs if necessary\, and digitize the materials off-site. Originals will be returned\, along with the digitized files\, either transferred to an external hard drive that you provide or as DVDs.
