TxSGS Awards Program Honors Outstanding Achievement in 16 Categories

The Texas State Genealogical Society recognizes excellence in the genealogical community through its annual Awards Program, which honors outstanding achievement in sixteen award categories and subcategories.
In a world increasingly driven by technology and data, the Awards Program provides an opportunity to honor those who are preserving memories, documenting lives, and creating a lasting legacy for their descendants. Every family story recorded today becomes a gift to future generations.
The TxSGS Awards Program includes categories for books, manuscripts, periodicals, websites, student projects, and the newest award category, blogs. (Categories listed below)
Submit your entry for the Texas State Genealogical Society 2026 Annual Awards for writing and other contributions to TxSGS and the genealogical community. The deadline to submit your entry or nomination for these awards is September 15, 2026.
Recognition Award
Volunteer Award nominations are encouraged from each Partner Society to recognize one of its members as the Volunteer of the Year. Nominees must meet certain criteria. The deadline for nominations is September 15.
Writing Awards
Writing Awards are offered by TxSGS in a variety of categories:
- Category I: Books by Non-Professionals.
- Category II: Books by a Professional.
- Category III: Manuscripts.
- Category IV: Blogs (Individual)
- Category V: Blogs (Partner Society)
- Category VI: Official Periodicals of Partner Societies.
- Category VII: Books Published by Partner Societies.
- Category VIII: Student Projects.

Website Awards
Website Awards are offered by TxSGS in three categories:
- Category I: Website for a Partner Society.
- Category II: Website for an individual member’s genealogy and family history.
- Category III: Website by an individual member of a general genealogy or historical nature, not specifically on the member’s family; for example, a county web page or a DNA study.
