Stirpes Themes

Stirpes, the Journal of the Texas State Genealogical Society, is the quarterly educational journal of the Texas State Genealogical Society. Stirpes contains research articles, reviews, source guides, and articles of general genealogical interest. The journal is available in electronic and print format and is included in membership benefits. Deadlines for each issue are on the 15th of the first month in the quarter in which the issue is published as listed below. Contact stirpes@txsgs.org for details or if you have questions about a potential submission.

  • March deadline is January 15
  • June deadline is April 15
  • September deadline is July 15
  • December deadline is October 15

Stirpes selects a primary theme for each issue. Articles supporting the theme are solicited and featured in the issue, along with articles and book reviews related to general Texas genealogy and history.

  • December 2023 – Curating Your Personal Archive (Processing, Preserving, Presenting)
  • March 2024 – Expanding Your Genealogical Horizons (Education and Learning)
  • June 2024 – Finding Females
  • September 2024 – Diving into the Records; Beyond Vital Records
  • December 2024 – Military
