The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is a patriotic, historical, and educational lineage society founded in 1889 for male descendants of individuals who supported the American Revolution. It promotes patriotism, preserves Revolutionary War history, and encourages civic education through community programs and national initiatives. The organization sponsors youth scholarships, historical commeorations, genealogical research, and partnerships with educational and veterans’ groups. Membership is open to men who can document direct descent from a patriot who rendered military, civil, or recognized patriotic service during the Revolution.
