Membership is open to any person or organization that is interested in researching and preserving genealogical and historical records. 

Membership Categories

  • Personal Memberships: Individuals or households for $30.00 plus $5.00 for an additional household member per year. A household membership consists of two persons living at the same address.
  • Partner Society Memberships: Genealogical societies, historical societies, and family associations. Partner Society dues are $30.00 per year.
  • Libraries: May subscribe to Stirpes for $30.00 per year.

Partner Society
Stirpes
Journal with helpful research articles, county records, family histories, review, queries, and other material of genealogical interest, provided as a subscription of four issues per membership year. Partner Societies, Family Associations and Libraries receive the print edition of Stirpes. All personal members automatically receive the digital edition of Stirpes. Starting January 1, 2018, members may purchase a print edition for a $15 annual fee. Back issues, if available, may be purchased at the current back issue price.

State Conference Discount
TxSGS hosts a state conference each year with workshops and seminars featuring nationally known speakers and the very popular awards banquet.

Writing Awards
There are separate Partner Society and Individual Writing Awards contests. Winners are announced the Annual Awards Banquet at the State Conference.

Website Awards
There are separate Partner Society and Individual Website Awards contests. Winners are announced the Annual Awards Banquet at the State Conference.

Stirpes Online
The first 40 volumes from 1961-2000 of our journal, Stirpes, have been scanned and placed on the internet at The Portal to Texas History web site. They are fully searchable and can be found at: http://texashistory.unt.edu/browse/contributor/TSGS/

Free Notices 
Partner societies are encouraged to submit material about their activities, workshops, and publication projects. This material may appear in Stirpes as space allows.

Publication Lists
Each Partner Society may submit a list of its publications for sale to be included in a compiled list of all Partner Society publications when published. The compiled list is available free to all Partner Societies and may be distributed to libraries with genealogical collections.

Speakers’ Bureau Directory 
Posted online, the Speaker’s Bureau Directory lists speakers, their topics/programs, and their contact information.

Grants 
Partner Societies are eligible for grants to have their quarterlies or publications filmed or scanned. Grants are also available to have county information published. Contact an officer or district representative for information.
 •
District Representative Support
A TxSGS representative is available to assist societies with programs and projects. The representative also serves as a TxSGS liaison to convey news and event information for promoting Partner Society activities through TxSGS publications (Stirpes, Blog, eNews, etc.). The TxSGS representative provides information about the many programs and benefits TxSGS offers Partner Societies.
